2023 Jetour Dashing: Killer Looks and Dashing Spirits

Well-known for manufacturing premium vehicles, Jetour is a relatively young brand that’s made its name across the globe for offering a fleet of finely-crafted and luxurious mid-size SUVs. Ones with classic SUV styling that utilize much smoother proportions with rounded lines and calmer designs.

But that has now changed in 2023 with the all-new Jetour Dashing. Adopting a much smarter and innovative way of styling has enabled them to sculpt their new car into a more handsome and mean-looking machine that’s sleek, sharp and athletic.

Exterior:

The Jetour Dashing lives up to it’s name, the exterior design of this car is just jaw dropping! Front to back, you just get a sense of pure elegance with a touch of menacing details from the sharp corners. You get the stares and thumbs up from people every time you pull up to your destination.

With the adoption of cross-generational design language, Jetour has taken a much more angular approach in styling the new Dashing. By blending sharp features with aerodynamic nature, Jetour has given the Dashing a practical, attractive and appealing exterior.

The inclined large front grille with seamlessly integrated inward-facing DRLs under fine front LED headlamps make the front look attractive and appealing. The Dashing’s bold posture with sharp, sleek shoulder lines defining its handsome dimensions. Adding to its distinctive character is the geometrically sculpted rear that beautifully integrates a split rear spoiler, sharp LED taillights and toned-down rear diffuser.

Handsome dimensions and a sporty personality, the Dashing is the first five-seater Jetour SUV to have an ultra-modern design with sharper aesthetics, smarter features and futuristic technologies.

Interior:

The luxurious interior, which mesmerises with its simple simplicity, complements the Dashing exterior. Dual-tone interiors that effortlessly merge modern elements with luxury materials add to its athletic character. Don’t forget this is a budget crossover but you will definitely feel you’re in a luxury European car. The seats are sculpted beautifully plus enough space for a comfortable journey.

A 12.8-inch smart centre infotainment is the main attraction of the Dashing. Unique to Jetour, this vibrant screen offers a clean interface that seamlessly integrates all onboard controls and infotainment functionality. It takes a while to get used to all the functions but once you get it, it becomes second nature. No Apple CarPlay/Android Auto here, however you do get a CarBit app. But as i’ve said, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto should be standard in all new vehicles now.

Soft-touch materials surround the Dashing dual-tone interiors, which include integrated soft-touch instrument panels and leather seats. The multifunctional D-shape steering wheel puts all critical controls at the driver's fingertips.

Engine and Performance:

The Dashing has a 1.5L turbocharged engine producing 156 HP and 230 Nm of torque mated to a 6-Speed DCT. Not so much going on in the engine compared to it's looks but it gets the job done. Basically, it's the classic, "If you can't perform, JAPORM!"

Straight off, you really should put it on "Sport" mode. It's much responsive that way. "Eco" is way to slugish. The steering is very light, easy to maneouver but personally I like a bit of weight in the steering. Although you don’t get any feedback from the steering at all, the way the Dashing drives is rather excellent. You get all the safety bells and whistles, 360 Cam/Collision Alerts/Lane Departure/emergency braking etc.

The suspension is on the firm side thus making cornering really balanced and minimal body roll. It feels confident and so it should, with a looks like that…

Tech and Convenience:

Many advanced technology used to improve overall ride quality are increasing passenger convenience in Dashing. Everything from clever keyless entry and remote start to intelligent voice control systems and Bluetooth connectivity improves the Dashing's ergonomics and use.

The Dashing ensures passenger safety by combining cutting-edge driver assistance technology with its standard robust safety system. Providing all-around protection are cruise control system with lane keep assist, forward, backward and lateral collision warning, ESC, traction control, ABS and Emergency brake assist are some of the many high-end features that make the Dashing one of the safest mid-size SUVs in the country.

A 180-degree transparent chassis and 360-degree panoramic parking assist with front and rear parking radar aids in parking the Dashing safely.

Verdict:

All in all, the Jetour Dashing is a dependable, enjoyable-to-drive mid-size SUV that is destined to win hearts in the Philippines. This new crossover is likely to rule Manila streets, leading its class in luxury, utility, and safety.

The Jetour Dashing has the potential to be one of the best crossovers in the market today, from looks alone: muscular, athletic built with a fine italian bespoke suit. This vehicle has a lot of promise, and if the rest of the Jetour range is comparable, the brand has a lot of potential as well.

Sure it has it's quirks, but with looks that could snap necks left and right, the Dashing feels like a winner. It's an excellent crossover for the money. It's well-equipped, has nice conveniences, and looks great. If sales are strong, we should see more powerful variations in the future.
