Hyundai’s All-Electric Award Winner: The 2020 Hyundai Kona Electric

Updated: Aug 7, 2019

What do the 2019 Wards Auto Competition, the 2019 Edmunds Editors’ Choice Awards, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) and Car and Driver have in common? They all gave accolades to the 2020 Hyundai Kona Electric.

And now, Hyundai Asia Resources Inc., the Philippines’s official distributor of Hyundai passenger and commercial vehicles, have brought the electrifying brother of the equally award-winning Hyundai Kona into the country, officially unveiled on April 4 at the 2019 Manila International Auto Show.

Known as Hyundai’s first-ever electric SUV, the 2020 Hyundai Kona Electric is bound to bring you an all-electric adventure. Engineered with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Electric Motor, it has a maximum power of 204ps and maximum torque of 40.3 kg-m, making sure that the 2020 Hyundai Kona Electric can provide instant acceleration and an invigorating drive, to power you through alongside its gas powered counterpart. It is also geared with a lithium-ion polymer battery that’s known for higher energy output and efficiency versus the nickel-hydride batteries used in other electric vehicles. The Kona’s battery pack is also much lighter in weight and takes up less space, adding to its range.

Outside, the 2020 Hyundai Kona Electric hasn’t lost the Kona’s captivating design identity. Rather, it lets you stay on the lead when it comes to style. Its futuristic 17” alloy wheels, unique closed-off front grille, electric-folding side mirrors, highmount stop lamp, and electric-folding side mirrors that are complemented with body color side mirrors and body color outside door handles, allowing you to exude a bold and modern look, which will truly make you stand-out on the road.

Inside, the 2020 Hyundai Kona Electric makes you feel like everything is right at your fingertips: the wireless charging that keeps your smartphone conveniently electrified, the leather steering wheel with audio remote control, the drive mode select, and the super vision instrument cluster with 7” TFT LCD that allows you to conveniently view key driving data without losing focus of the road before you. Passengers on the other hand can stay comfortable sitting on the 6:4 split type folding rear seats that you can easily fold down if you need to further extend your cargo space.

For safety, the 2020 Hyundai Kona Electric is equipped with a 6-Airbag System (front, side, and curtain) to keep you and your passengers sufficiently protected in case of a collision. The Reverse Parking Assist System, Blind Spot Detection, Cruise Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and Electronic Parking Brake provide a variety of smart technology that can make driving and riding the 2020 Hyundai Kona Electric more secured than ever.

With the multi-awarded 2020 Hyundai Kona Electric, you can go beyond experiencing smart, and efficient electric driving that’s also environment-friendly— you can stay in charge without compromising your sense of style. Suggested retail price for this electrifying award-winner is PhP 2,388,000.
