Have you ever heard of a car that is specifically designed for the youth of today? The social media savvy millennials. Can we, the youngsters (yes I am including myself), actually walk up to a car showroom and say, “I am looking for a car that is probably equivalent to the fountain of youth! Is that car available?” To answer all your questions, Yes!
There is a car today that is equivalent to the fountain of youth! The car you are looking for is the all-new 2021 Chevrolet Tracker. The Tracker is the first in line of the all new line up of cars from Chevrolet. Now don’t confuse this as a replacement for the Trax, no. The Tracker sits next to it in Chevy’s model line-up.
Exterior
Now the new Chevrolet Tracker’s exterior designs really brings out the youth in you. The overall exterior looks just screams sporty and sleek because of its sharper cuts and edges that is menacing to look at. Around the car, you have these aesthetically pleasing red trims and accents which makes the car extra mean and aggressive.
You’ll find these red trims on your grills, your sidemirrors, and on your blacked out special 17” alloy wheels. And the icing on the cake, the LED Projector Headlights and LED Daytime running light designs feels like it belongs to the blacked out grills and blacked out Chevy badge that makes it look like the car is wearing a bow tie and a perfectly cut tuxedo.
Looking at the Chevrolet Tracker’s side profile, the trapezoid like wheel arches are covered with a black plastic body cladding that brings more life to its blacked out wheels and goes all the way to the doors and rear. Speaking of the Tracker’s rear end, the design of it is, I gotta say, looks a bit less exciting compared to the front and side profiles. The rear appears to be simple and clean. The horizontally designed LED tail lights makes the rear look bigger as well.
Interior
Looking at the Tracker’s interior, Chevrolet still kept everything simple and clean… With a touch of aggresiveness. The overall all black layout of the cabin looks up to speed and sleek with its exterior looks. You’ll still find red trims and accents all around (like in your dashboard and on your leather seats).
It’s sporty three-spoke wing like steering wheel goes well with its analog instrument console and its center console that has an 8-inch infotainment screen (with Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto, of course) that is perfectly well placed. You’ll see many other interior features in the car as well like automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, push start button, hieght-adjustable driver seat, and many more.
Safety
The new Chevrolet Tracker is also aggressive when it comes to its safety features. To name a few, it has front and side airbags, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Reverse Camera & sensors, Automatic Brake System (ABS) with EBD, Traction Control, Electronic Stability Control, Cornering Brake Control, Hill Start Assist, Understeer Control, Engine Drag Control, and Rollover Mitigation. To make the story short, you’re in safe hands when it comes to driving one of these. All you have to do is drive the car and the car itself will take care of you.
Space & Practicality
Despite the Tracker being “mean” and “aggressive” on the outside, its space and practically isn’t behind that description as well because they’ve aggressively maximized the space inside. You actually have generous cabin space and you can seat up to 5 people comfortably.
Aside from great cabin space, your trunk area covers a maximum of 1,292 liters of cargo space (with the seats folded) and about 393 liters of space if the seats aren’t folded, which isn’t bad at all for a Crossover SUV that is targeted for the youth. Did I mention it also has USB Charging ports at the front and back as well? It doesn’t get any more practical than that since we all need a spot to charge our phones and gadgets while we’re on the road.
Engine
Here’s the catch! Engine-wise, the Chevrolet Tracker has a 1.0L three cylinder turbo-charged engine that packs around 116 horses and 175Nm of torque with the 6-speed automatic transmission and Front Wheel Drive layout. Considering that its a 1.0L three cylinder engine, it has that kind of power and also fuel efficient at the same time!
Verdict
I’m not gonna lie, driving this car feels as sporty as it looks. During our time with the Tracker, we brought it into different kinds of roads. Whether its on a straight line or on curvy twisty roads, the Tracker feels great to drive. The handling of the car is well balanced and that turbocharged engine gives you the right amount of power needed. Although, I kind of wish it has more power but then I realize… That kind of power? On a 1.0L engine? And its on a Crossover platform? I’ll honestly take it.
The Tracker can definitely keep up with its other competitors and it is by far the most mean looking one out there. I kind of wish I’m still part of the youth that they’re targeting for this one, but then again, we’re all youths at heart, right? Whether you’re a Millenial, Gen Z, Boomers, etc., as long as you have that youthful spirit and love for cars, the Chevrolet Tracker will always be a nice car for you to consider.
